Fly Fishing for Golden Trout in the High Sierra of California
Two of my best friends and I made it a point that by the end of the summer we would take a couple day trip to pursue our gorgeous state fish: the California Golden Trout. The setting would take place high up in the Sierras at around 10,500 feet, where some of the most beautiful country in the state is. Turns out, the fish were even prettier than the stunning landscape they inhabited. I am so glad we were all able to accomplish our goal of catching these breathtaking fish, along with some rainbows, brookies, and cutthroat sprinkled in.
I hope to be able to look back on this video throughout my life to remember the outstanding time I had camping out in gorgeous country with friends I consider brothers, fishing in small, crystal blue lakes nestled into the High Sierra for the rare and stunning California Golden TROOT.
Filmed with a GoPro Hero 3 White and a Hero 4 Silver.
Caught majority of fish using “nymphticator” set ups along with a few on dry flies.
